The Director of Housekeeping drives guest satisfaction, financial results and employee engagement. He/she must have the ability to motivate and lead a vibrant and diverse team while managing to the cleanliness and performance standards of the property. The Director of Housekeeping is responsible for overseeing all aspects of housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, public areas, laundry services, and heart‑of‑house spaces. This role ensures the hotel is maintained to Forbes 5-star standards of cleanliness, comfort, and aesthetic appeal while fostering a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and guest-focused service. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops, implements, and oversees daily housekeeping operations, ensuring exceptional cleanliness and presentation throughout the hotel. Establishes and maintains Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that align with Forbes 5-star service standards. Conducts regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure compliance with quality standards. Coordinates closely with other departments, including Front Office, Engineering, and Food & Beverage, to address guest needs and operational requirements. Leads, inspires, and manages the housekeeping team, including room attendants, public area attendants, and laundry staff. Recruits, trains, and develops team members to achieve high performance and professional growth. Schedules the team to ensure optimal coverage while controlling labor costs. Conducts regular performance evaluations and provides coaching to enhance skills and productivity. Responds promptly to guest requests, concerns, and feedback, ensuring a seamless and personalized experience. Collaborates with the Guest Relations team to prepare for VIP arrivals, ensuring accommodations are tailored to individual preferences. Develops and manages the housekeeping department’s budget, including labor, supplies, and equipment. Monitors inventory levels and oversees purchasing to ensure adequate supplies while minimizing costs. Identifies cost‑saving initiatives without compromising quality or service. Ensures all housekeeping operations comply with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations. Maintains strict adherence to cleaning and sanitation protocols, especially in compliance with Forbes standards. Continuously seeks innovative solutions to improve efficiency, service, and guest satisfaction. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or a related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of 8 years of housekeeping experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role in a luxury hotel environment. Proven track record of maintaining Forbes 5-star standards or equivalent. Skills: Exceptional organizational and time-management skills. Strong leadership and team-building abilities. Detail-oriented with a commitment to excellence. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and adapt to a fast-paced environment. Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency in property management systems (e.g., OperaCloud) and housekeeping management software. Languages:
Fluency in English required; multilingual candidates preferred.
