Senior Estimator (Construction) – Job Description Location:

Full-Time Position Overview The Senior Estimator is responsible for leading the preparation of detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects. This role plays a key part in preconstruction, ensuring accurate pricing, risk analysis, and competitive bids across commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects (conceptual through final bid stage) Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to determine scope and cost components Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost breakdowns (labor, materials, equipment) Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier bids Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients throughout the estimating process Conduct site visits to verify conditions and improve estimate accuracy Develop bid proposals, budgets, and value engineering solutions Identify project risks and provide mitigation strategies Maintain estimating databases and cost history records Lead or mentor junior estimators and support team development Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred) 5–10+ years of construction estimating experience (commercial, residential, or public works) Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost control Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents Experience with estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, CostX, or similar) Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Preferred Qualifications Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar certification Experience with large-scale or complex projects (e.g., healthcare, commercial, or public sector) Knowledge of local building codes and California construction regulations
