Job Summary The Account Executive develops and retains business in the assigned region. Critical Job Functions / Responsibilities Develops new business through a variety of prospecting and development techniques, including cold calling and making appointments. Builds and maintains relationships with customer accounts through regular friendly and professional contact, including meals and entertainment. Collaborates with Operations to understand current customer’s needs and resolve any issues or concerns. Develops account pricing and internally submits pricing requests to supervisor for approval. Creates weekly sales reports and account profiles as needed by the supervisor. Responds to customer inquiries and concerns in a timely and ethical manner. Demonstrates excellent knowledge of RRTS services in all customer and prospect interactions. Assists with collections. Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals. Provides leadership to other employees through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. Other duties may be assigned. Job Requirements / Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university, or two years or more of sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret pricing agreements, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers and members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to customers, prospects, top management, and public groups. Effective internal communication with all terminal departments and the Corporate Office, and external communication with customers, agents, consignees, and prospects. Excellent sales skills. Preferred knowledge of Haz Mat regulations. Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Ability to manage time and work efficiently. Keyboarding, filing, and ten‑key skills. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Current valid driver’s license. High degree of responsibility for safeguarding and controlling highly restricted information and customer data. Self‑motivated and capable of maintaining confidentiality. Friendly, punctual, organized, positive attitude, and able to work unsupervised. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Prioritizes and organizes tasks. Handles multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Physical Demands Physical Demands: Daily outside travel to make sales calls in any weather. Light physical activity performing non‑strenuous daily administrative activities. Requires sitting, standing, traveling to customers, touring facilities, using a personal computer, handling items, using fingers, seeing clearly at 20 feet or more, having depth perception, peripheral vision, adjusting focus, speaking, and hearing between phone and in‑person conversations. Work Environment: Well‑lit, heated and/or air‑conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Moderate noise level from conversation, ringing phones, and laser printer operation. Outside travel in all weather is required. May encounter wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, or outdoor weather conditions when touring prospects or client plants. Potential for slippery conditions or hazardous footing on terminal dock or during outside sales calls. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land or air required. Compensation Range: $80,000 to $95,000 per year.
