Technical Project Manager, Marketing Data & Analytics (DataOps)
Job Summary: Talent Software Services is in search of a Tech Program Manager - Marketing Data Ops for a contract position in Redmond, WA. The opportunity will be one year with a strong chance for a long‑term extension.
Position Summary: We are seeking a Technical Project Manager with a strong data development background to help bridge the gap between our data engineering teams and marketing stakeholders. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, marketing operations, and privacy, ensuring that data platforms and dashboards are designed to scale, tell meaningful stories, and directly support marketing decision‑making. Our data engineering foundation is strong—we’ve built centralized data warehouses, integrated multiple marketing data sources (web, email, and more), and implemented a modern semantic layer and data fabric architecture. The next phase is value realization: ensuring the data we’ve built is usable, scalable, and aligned with real marketing needs. This role exists to ask the right questions early, challenge assumptions on both sides, and prevent downstream surprises.
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Serve as the Bridge Between Marketing and Data Engineering
Translate marketing strategies and use cases into clear, actionable data requirements
Ensure data engineers understand how data will be used, not just what needs to be built
Partner with analytics and BI teams to evolve dashboards from static scorecards into insight‑driven storytelling tools
Lead Marketing DataOps and Delivery
Manage end‑to‑end delivery of marketing data initiatives across engineering, analytics, and business teams
Anticipate scale, latency, data volume, and freshness needs before pipelines are built
Challenge Assumptions on Both Sides
Question data engineering designs related to:
Data grain, scale, and performance
Semantic definitions and metric consistency
Pipeline architecture vs. actual usage patterns
Question marketing requirements related to:
Feasibility and data availability
Privacy, consent, and regulatory constraints
Long‑term scalability vs. short‑term requests
Enable Data Storytelling and Business Impact
Partner with analytics teams to ensure dashboards answer real business questions:
What happened?
Why did it happen?
What should we do next?
Advocate for end users (marketers, analysts, leaders) in data product design
Participate in Privacy, Governance, and Compliance Reviews
Collaborate with engineering, legal, and privacy teams during data and product reviews
Ensure marketing use cases are privacy‑aware and compliant by design
Balance innovation, speed, and regulatory responsibility
Qualifications
Experience in data development, analytics engineering, or data engineering
Strong understanding of DataOps principles and modern data platforms
Hands‑on experience working with:
Data warehouses
Marketing data sources (web, email, campaign, customer data)
Semantic layers and analytics tooling
Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders
Preferred
Experience supporting marketing, growth, or customer analytics teams
Familiarity with marketing data concepts such as:
Audience and data segmentation
Attribution and performance measurement
Activation and downstream consumption
Experience participating in privacy, governance, or compliance initiatives
Is a self‑starter who does not wait to be told what to do
Actively asks questions and challenges assumptions early
Is comfortable operating in ambiguity and cross‑functional environments
Brings ideas, opinions, and suggestions—not just status updates
Takes ownership of outcomes, not just timelines
This role requires someone who is energized by collaboration, complexity, and building systems that truly work for the business.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring that our marketing data platform:
Scales with business growth
Avoids costly rework and surprises
Produces insights that drive action—not just reports
Aligns technical excellence with real marketing impact
