Job Title : Social Media and Content Manager
Reports To: Senior Director of Communications and Public Engagement
Position Summary: The Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute (Meadows Institute) seeks a collaborative and strategic communications professional to serve as a Social Media and Content Manager (Manager). This role will support the efforts of the Communications team to promote the work of the Meadows Institute across multiple platforms, including video and multimedia storytelling. The Manager will be expected to work collaboratively with staff, contractors, partner agencies, and stakeholders to develop and execute effective strategies for building brand awareness, engaging new audiences, and advancing the mission of the Meadows Institute. The Manager will lead the social media strategy for the Meadows Institute and will write and edit original content that explains and amplifies our work. The preferred work location for this position is in Texas. This position may not be filled or performed in California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Washington at this time. Statewide travel (up to 10%) may be required. Some duties may require access to reliable personal transportation.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a social media strategy that amplifies the work of the Meadows Institute.
Execute effective use of video and multimedia storytelling for a variety of audiences.
Build and manage a content calendar that leverages the Meadows Institute’s website and social media platforms.
Establish clear Key Performance Indicators and performance goals to evaluate the success of the Meadows Institute’s communications strategy and monitor analytics to refine strategy and identify new opportunities.
Write original content for the Meadows Institute, including explanatory pieces, FAQs, one-pagers, blog posts, and program briefs.
Meet regularly with internal teams and stakeholders to gain insight into upcoming work and events.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communication Studies, or related field.
5+ years of relevant professional experience including social media content development and strategy, communications, marketing, and writing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strategy- and action-oriented. Works well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and can juggle priorities.
A great writer who can translate complex information into easy-to-understand language for multiple audiences.
Able to write concise and persuasive copy appropriate for the platform and target audience.
Demonstrate leadership skills, ability to keep projects on track and on time.
Experience in social media and online engagement tools, preferably Sprout Social.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues. This includes overcoming geographic and other potential barriers to communicating with and making contributions to the team’s work.
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Capacity to think strategically, critically, and respond analytically.
Flexibility in working with new issues, topics, and approaches.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies, Journalism, or related field.
A minimum of two years of relevant experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proficiency with video and multimedia production.
Deep understanding of social culture, platforms, algorithms, and storytelling.
Ability to translate complex policy initiatives and clinical work into a clear, engaging narrative and visual content for external audiences.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues. This includes overcoming geographic and other potential barriers to communicating with and making contributions to the team’s work.
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Capacity to think strategically, critically, and respond analytically.
Flexibility in working with new issues, topics, and approaches.
Eligibility Requirements:
The preferred work location for this position is in Texas. This position may not be filled or performed in California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, or Washington at this time. Relocation assistance not available. Successful candidates must show proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
