Position: Group Benefits Account Executive Reports to: Sales Director FLSA Status: Exempt Job Description: The Account Executive for the Group Benefits department is responsible for driving business growth by acquiring new group benefits clients, retaining current clients, and expanding coverage through cross-selling and upselling opportunities. This role serves as a benefits consultant, guiding employers through complex employee benefits offerings and designing tailored group benefits packages that align with business goals and employee needs. Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve forecasted premium volume and commission growth. Cultivate relationships with new and existing group clients to promote benefits solutions such as medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. Generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and community involvement. Attend industry events, HR forums, and business functions to strengthen community presence. Collaborate with internal marketing and support teams to generate client materials and proposals. Client Consulting Evaluate employer group needs to identify coverage gaps and recommend appropriate benefits plans. Serve as a trusted advisor for compliance, plan design, contribution strategies, employee education, and renewal planning. Conduct annual reviews with clients to ensure benefit plans remain competitive and cost-effective. Assist clients in understanding regulatory changes (e.g., ACA, ERISA) and ensure benefit programs remain compliant. Coordinate with carriers to design, quote, and implement group benefit programs. Process and Administration Accurately complete and submit carrier applications, benefit summaries, and enrollment documentation. Maintain client files and CRM systems with all relevant communication, plan changes, quotes, and compliance documentation. Ensure timely and accurate follow-through on renewals, market analysis, and client service requests. Work closely with internal account managers and service teams to deliver exceptional client support. Professional Development Stay up-to-date on industry trends, products, legislative updates, and technology to enhance client consultation. Certifications/Licenses Required Valid Driver’s License Qualifications, Skills and Abilities Required: Bachelor’s Degree in business, insurance or related field preferred Minimum of 3 years of experience in group benefits sales or consulting required. High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum of 7 years insurance sales experience. Strong interpersonal and consultative skills with a client-first mindset. Working knowledge of benefits platforms, enrollment tools, and CRM/AMS systems (e.g., AMS360). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasional travel for client meetings and professional events is expected.
