Title/Position: Public Relations Intern (Unpaid) Location: New York / Los Angeles / Remote Details: Dark Matter Media’s Internship Program offers an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience by participating in real-world projects, providing valuable work experience and leadership skills. Responsibilities Monitor, tag, and respond to emails in a timely manner while maintaining an empty inbox. Draft press releases, media pitches, and other communications. Assist in the creation of media outreach lists, guestlists, itineraries, and calendar invites. Assist in media relations efforts by researching and updating media and contact lists. Assist in monitoring client press coverage by compiling daily coverage roundups, logging editorial coverage, creating quote sheets, and updating press reports. Gather data including streaming metrics, press quotes, and key talking points for onesheets and internal research projects. Assist with social media monitoring and maintenance of the Dark Matter Media website ensuring current client information is up to date. Project-manage various short-term assignments as assigned. Participate in daily team calls. Qualifications 18 years of age [Required] and ideally enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school. Preferred candidates will be studying Public Relations/Communications, Journalism, English, and/or entertainment-industry majors, preferably in at least their junior year of college. Able to work out of our New York City office at least 2 days a week for 6 hours per day. Motivated self-starter and active problem solver with excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. Work well on teams and collaborative efforts while prioritizing and completing tasks with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment. Deep understanding of new and legacy media, the contemporary music and entertainment landscape, and Dark Matter Media’s client roster. Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, & Google Calendar)—Notion and Mailchimp a plus. Previous internship or work experience in public relations and communications is a plus. Work Environment Ability to maintain a professional demeanor when interfacing with talent and executives. Possess strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Take directions and be proactive about asking questions if anything is unclear. Able to work in open concept office space and remain focused on detail oriented activities. Salary/Benefits This is an unpaid position for Academic Credit Dark Matter Media offers training from senior staff as well as real world Music Industry and Public Relations experience through the contribution to major projects and campaigns.
