Position Overview
IBTTA’s Marketing and Communications Manager leads integrated marketing and communications efforts that elevate the association’s brand and promote its programs, initiatives, and events. The role is responsible for planning and executing event marketing and registration campaigns while ensuring a consistent brand presence across digital and print platforms.
This position supports the drafting and production of short- and long-form communications materials, including digital assets, fact sheets, reports, toolkits, and executive communications, and assists with media relations by preparing press releases, talking points, and related materials.
The Manager works closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure the smooth production and timely delivery of campaigns and marketing materials, while supporting data-informed efforts to maximize reach, engagement, and ROI. This role serves as the primary coordinator of marketing campaigns, working closely with the Digital Marketing Specialist to optimize social media content, channel strategy, and the production of high-quality digital and graphic deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Events Marketing & Promotion
Develop and execute integrated marketing plans to promote IBTTA’s events, including annual meetings, summits, Global Road Safety Week, and other educational programs and campaigns.
Drive event registration through targeted campaigns, email marketing, social media, and digital advertising, with defined goals and measurable performance indicators.
Collaborate with the events and communications teams to create compelling content and messaging that highlights the value and impact of IBTTA programs.
Support partnerships with industry organizations, media outlets, and other relevant entities to expand the reach and visibility of IBTTA events.
Coordinate campaign timelines, production schedules, and cross‑functional collaboration to support on‑time, high‑quality delivery.
Content Development
Draft and produce short‑ and long‑form communications materials, including digital assets, fact sheets, reports, toolkits, executive communications, website updates, newsletters, and social media posts.
Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to produce high‑quality content that engages IBTTA’s audiences and supports IBTTA.org and event communications.
Support content integration and user experience enhancements across IBTTA’s digital platforms, including the mobile app.
Support messaging consistency and clarity across all platforms and audience segments.
Partner closely with the Digital Marketing Specialist to align messaging with channel strategy and optimize content performance across social and digital platforms.
Brand Management
Ensure the consistency and integrity of the IBTTA brand across all digital and print platforms.
Apply and uphold brand guidelines so all communications align with IBTTA’s mission and values.
Monitor brand perception and recommend strategies to enhance visibility and reputation across the industry.
Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Specialist to guide the development and review of high‑quality digital and graphic assets that reflect brand standards.
Media Relations Support
Assist with media relations activities, including drafting press releases, talking points, backgrounders, and related materials.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure messaging is timely, accurate, and aligned with organizational priorities.
Media Buying & Advertising
Support the planning and execution of paid media strategies across digital and print channels.
Monitor campaign performance data and recommend adjustments to optimize reach, engagement, and ROI.
Maintain relationships with paid media partners and vendors.
Work with the Digital Marketing Specialist to refine targeting, creative assets, and channel mix to improve campaign effectiveness.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Track and analyze the effectiveness of marketing and communications campaigns to inform future planning.
Provide performance insights and reporting to support data‑informed decision making.
Industry Awareness & Continuous Improvement
Stay current on tolling, transportation, and infrastructure industry trends to ensure IBTTA communications remain relevant, timely, and forward‑looking.
Monitor peer associations, industry groups, and partners to identify marketing and communications best practices and emerging approaches.
Recommend new ideas, tools, and tactics to strengthen IBTTA’s marketing and communications alignment with evolving industry needs and expectations.
Essential Functions

Design and implement targeted marketing strategies to increase event participation, sponsorship visibility, and stakeholder engagement, using digital and traditional channels.
Develop, review, and manage the production of short- and long-form communications materials across digital and print platforms to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational priorities.
Apply and uphold brand standards across all communications channels, ensuring messaging and visual assets align with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic objectives.
Prepare and coordinate communications materials that support media outreach and stakeholder engagement, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and message alignment.
Support the planning, execution, and performance monitoring of paid media and advertising strategies; collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure timely and effective campaign delivery.
Track, analyze, and report on marketing and communications performance metrics to inform strategic adjustments and improve return on investment.
Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to align messaging, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring campaigns and materials are completed effectively and on schedule.
Monitor industry trends and best practices and recommend enhancements to marketing and communications strategies to support organizational growth and visibility.
Exercise sound independent judgment and make strategic and operational decisions that align with the Association’s goals and mission.
Travel domestically and occasionally internationally to represent the Association at meetings, conferences, and other events as needed. Travel may involve air transportation and extended periods away from home, including overnight stays. Travel may also require flexible scheduling, including weekends.
Regularly use a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment to communicate effectively.
Assist with event and office logistics, including lifting or moving items up to 25 pounds, as needed.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance and availability during standard business hours, with flexibility for events and event preparation.
Qualifications
Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus on events marketing, brand management, digital content development, and support for membership, exhibit, and sponsorship sales.
Proven track record of driving event registrations, managing successful marketing campaigns, and supporting sales initiatives.
Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools and platforms, including SEO, email marketing, social media, and content management systems.
Experience in media buying and advertising, with a solid understanding of ROI analysis and campaign optimization.
Experience in managing graphic design projects and working with external vendors to deliver high-quality marketing materials.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling content and messaging.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
