Digital Media Assistant
Unit: University Housing, Department: Housing-Admin Srvcs & Communic. Position Type: Employee. FLSA Non-Exempt. Salary: $14.00. Minimum 8 hours per week. Start Date: 04/06/2026. Posting Open Until Filled.
Special Instructions for Media Portfolio: Create and upload a 30-second portrait-style video where you share about the housing move-in experience. Please make sure you are on camera so we can see your personality and creativity.
Duties / Responsibilities
Administrative: Support, communicate, enforce and abide by all university and department policies, procedures and regulations.
Attend bi-weekly team meetings, office hours (3 hrs/week) and monthly one-on-one check-ins with supervisor.
Update and maintain content calendars.
Function as a resource for accurate information concerning housing and university operations.
Participate in training and in-service activities.
Perform other duties consistent with the purpose of the position as assigned.
Work minimum 8 hours a week.
Social Media: Promote the value of living on campus and foster the on-campus community through storytelling and engaging content.
Assist in the planning, creation and scheduling of content on housing social media channels such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.
Monitor and identify trends, memes and relevant topics to keep content fresh and relatable.
Write engaging copy for social media captions, graphics and video content.
Collaborate with team members as needed to create branded content for all University Housing platforms.
Ensure accuracy and consistency across all posts, including adherence to branding and accessibility guidelines.
Regularly check platform analytics and engagement.
Attend University Housing events as needed to document on social media.
Capture photos of halls and student life with DSLR or phone camera.
Manage content timelines by creating and submitting materials in advance to meet approval and scheduled posting deadlines.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with social media for a brand.
Strong communication skills and ability to match tone with a defined brand voice.
Photography, videography or graphic design experience.
Preference for candidates planning to reside on campus for the upcoming academic year.
Employment Information
Open to students (full-time or part-time). Minimum 8 hours per week. Non-Exempt. Classifies as Student Assistant. Minimum Qualifications: At least 0.5 FTE. Standard for normal office environment.
