JOB SUMMARY The Marketing & Communications Specialist is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing strategic internal and external communications that effectively describe and promote the organization, its events, and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES Content Creation Draft articles, editorials, and internal and external communications
Develop strategic messaging for different audiences
Write and develop content for Chamber website, newsletters, and press releases
Social Media Management Engage Members in social media
Event Marketing Market all events in a timely manner through e-blasts, social media, online platforms, and press releases
Communicate with all event partners, media, and venues
Annual Strategic Communications Plan Works with the CEO and COO to develop and gain approval for an annual strategic communications plan and effectively implements it across multimodal communications pathways to include digital, print, broadcast, and other modalities as appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities Attend all staff meetings and events
Support and attend Chamber events, activities, and functions
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS Proficient knowledge of computer systems, specifically in Microsoft Office, Canva, MailChimp, Hootsuite, or similar
Experience in social media marketing and communications
Exceptional writing skills
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Strong verbal, non-verbal, and listening communication skills with internal and external partners
Ability to exercise discretion concerning privileged or confidential information
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work flexible hours in support of scheduled events
Must have a valid state driver's license and reliable transportation. Employees will be compensated at IRS compliant mileage rates for using a personally owned vehicle.
Preferred Experience in social media marketing and communications
Demonstrated history of effective engagement with print and broadcast media with a history of gained media through releases and direct engagement.
Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods
Some lifting and carrying (up to 25 pounds)
Requirements generally occurring in an office environment
Primarily office-based with occasional off-site meetings and events

California Wage Transparency Pursuant to California law, North San Diego Business Chamber provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be performed in California. The starting salary for this position is $23.00 per hour to $25.00 per hour. Compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, skills, and experience. This position is qualified for additional commissions and annual performance-based wage increases and bonuses. North San Diego Business Chamber also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
