Core Responsibility: The Automotive Digital Account Executive is a specialized sales position focused exclusively on serving automotive manufacturers, dealers, suppliers, and related businesses in the Detroit metropolitan area. You'll leverage deep automotive industry knowledge to build relationships with decision‑makers and sell BBGI's integrated marketing solutions that address the unique challenges facing automotive brands and dealerships in today's competitive landscape.
Requirements
Motivated, enthusiastic self‑starter with proven ability to navigate complex automotive industry sales cycles
Deep understanding of the Detroit automotive ecosystem, including manufacturer structure, dealer networks, and supplier relationships
Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to speak credibly to automotive executives and marketing teams
Strong negotiator familiar with automotive marketing budgets and seasonal buying patterns
Detail‑oriented with ability to manage multiple automotive clients simultaneously
Valid driver's license and willingness to attend automotive industry events and auto shows
Essential Duties
Presenting and Selling
Maintain and expand relationships with existing automotive accounts including OEMs, tier‑one suppliers, and dealer groups
Develop new business within automotive sector, targeting manufacturers, electric vehicle startups, aftermarket companies, and multi‑location dealerships
Build strategic relationships with automotive marketing directors, dealer principals, and advertising agencies specializing in automotive
Create customized marketing programs addressing automotive‑specific needs: new model launches, seasonal sales events, service department promotion, and brand positioning
Solicit investment for broadcast campaigns, digital advertising, streaming audio, dealership event sponsorships, and automotive lifestyle content integration
Maintain organized sales process covering: competitive automotive market analysis, consumer purchase journey insights, dealer foot traffic goals, and manufacturer co‑op opportunities
Identify and penetrate new automotive categories including EV charging networks, automotive technology companies, and mobility services
Planning
Research automotive industry trends including EV adoption, autonomous vehicle development, supply chain issues, and changing consumer preferences
Prepare for sales calls by understanding each client's position in the automotive ecosystem, recent product launches, and market share challenges
Know dealership target demographics, manufacturer incentive programs, and seasonal buying patterns
Stay current on automotive advertising regulations and manufacturer advertising fund (MAF) requirements
Achieve Budget Goals
Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets for automotive category
Maximize share of automotive advertising spend in Detroit market across all BBGI platforms
Service Customers
Communicate regularly with automotive clients regarding campaign performance, auto show presence, and seasonal promotion opportunities
Serve as primary liaison ensuring superior service for product launch campaigns and time‑sensitive dealer promotions
Develop relationships with OEM regional marketing teams, dealer advertising associations, and automotive agency holding companies
Coordinate coverage of Detroit Auto Show, Woodward Dream Cruise, and other major automotive events
Product Knowledge – Automotive Focus
Master BBGI's automotive‑specific solutions including drive‑time programming, test drive event integration, and dealer locator advertising
Understand automotive consumer journey from awareness through purchase and service retention
Leverage qualitative data on car buyer demographics and psychographics in Detroit market
Stay current on competitor automotive advertising strategies across radio, digital, and experiential channels
Understand manufacturer tier programs and co‑op advertising opportunities
Administrative Duties
Maintain detailed records of automotive accounts including buy cycles, decision‑maker contacts, and tier funding availability
Track automotive industry calendar including model year launches, sales events, and trade shows
Provide regular reporting on automotive category performance and competitive intelligence
Effectively utilize CRM to manage complex multi‑stakeholder automotive accounts
Coordination & Communication
Provide weekly updates on automotive sector activity, competitive moves, and market opportunities
Collaborate with programming team on automotive‑relevant content opportunities
Participate in automotive industry networking events, dealer associations, and marketing conferences
Support automotive client promotions including test drive events, auto show activations, and dealership grand openings
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of media sales or automotive marketing experience
Existing relationships within Detroit automotive community
Understanding of automotive retail operations and manufacturer‑dealer dynamics
Familiarity with automotive marketing metrics (showroom traffic, lead generation, service retention)
