Position Summary:
St. Michael the Archangel Parish of Cary is seeking a paid Part-Time Marketing Communications Intern to support parish communications and digital evangelization. The purpose of this internship is to provide meaningful, hands‑on experience in Catholic communications while supporting the mission and outreach of one of the largest parishes in the Diocese of Raleigh.
This role assists with weekly communications, digital content creation, and visual storytelling that reflect the beauty, goodness, and truth of the Catholic faith. The intern will work under the guidance of the Coordinator of Marketing & Digital Evangelization, with increasing responsibility over time.
Key responsibilities:
Assist with the creation of the weekly parish bulletin and weekly e-news
Draft social media content (Facebook & Instagram) for parish events, liturgical seasons, and Catholic holy days
Support the creation of flyers, graphics, and digital signage for display cases and digital screens throughout the church
Support website updates and event posts on the parish website and REALM
Assist with developing short blogs or digital reflections that support parish life and evangelization
Assist with outreach to local businesses for event support or follow-up for large parish‑wide events (e.g., Feast Day)
Support light photography or content capture for parish events, as available
Assist with photo management to the parish Flickr account
Familiarity with Canva, Adobe tools, CapCut, social media platforms, and email software
Strong oral and written communication and basic organizational skills
Ability to receive feedback, follow directions, and meet deadlines
Employment is contingent upon applicant satisfactorily passing criminal background and reference checks
Must complete diocese-sponsored Safe Environment Training.
Preferred Qualifications:
Working toward a BA/BS in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
Demonstrated interest in digital evangelization and faith‑based communications
Desire to gain real‑world experience serving a large, active parish community
Prior volunteer or ministry involvement (parish, campus ministry, service organizations, etc.)
Comfort with basic outreach or follow‑up communications (email or phone), under staff direction
Experience with photography or visual content creation for digital platforms
(e.g., Flickr, Canva, CapCut, InDesign, Photoshop, Publisher)
