Overview
The Knoxville News Sentinel and USA TODAY South Region, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, are recruiting a content creator for Tennessee athletics. The role focuses on producing engaging digital media—written reports, short‑form videos, and social media content—to entertain and inform a passionate fan base. The primary assignment will be covering University of Tennessee baseball in Knoxville, with additional support for Tennessee football.
Responsibilities
Write, edit, and publish timely, high‑quality written stories and short‑form videos covering Tennessee athletics.
Lead coverage of University of Tennessee baseball and assist with football events.
Generate a steady stream of story ideas, especially human‑interest and trend stories that extend beyond game play.
Use SEO best practices to craft headlines and promote content on social media platforms.
Produce, edit, and deliver multimedia content efficiently during peak audience periods.
Adapt quickly to shifting news demands and evolving coverage priorities.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
Reporting experience in a digitally focused news organization.
Strong writing, reporting, and multimedia skills.
Excellent news judgment, journalism ethics, and story‑telling ability.
Demonstrated proficiency with SEO‑driven headlines and audience‑engagement strategies.
Excellent multitasking and deadline‑management skills.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and state‑required liability insurance.
