GFX Designer: Data Visualization & Publication Design
BSM Partners, Bentonville, AR, United States
We’re looking for a bit of a unicorn when it comes to graphic design.
This role is for someone who genuinely loves great design and gets excited about turning complex, often imperfect data into clear, compelling visual stories and assembling those stories into polished publications and presentations.
If you enjoy making challenging information look simple, sharp, and engaging for digital and print needs, you’ll fit right in.
What You’ll Do
This role spans from data to finished storytelling. Your work will include:
Designing clear, accurate charts, tables, and infographics that surface key insights from complex datasets
Translating analysis, visualizations, and written narrative into cohesive visual stories
Creating publications in InDesign that include written content, data visualizations, and other analytics
Establishing strong information hierarchy, pacing, and layout across multi-page documents
Developing visual systems that scale across reports, presentations, and future content
This is not a brand-only or social-first design role. The emphasis is on data visualization, publication design, and narrative clarity.
How You’ll Work
You’ll be trusted as the design expert for how insights ultimately land.
Take briefs and drive visual concepts without constant oversight
Push creative boundaries to constantly elevate the work forward
Iterate quickly while protecting clarity, consistency, and quality
Be open to learning new tools and workflows as the project evolves
This role is deeply collaborative and highly visible. You will:
Work closely with analysts, writers, and strategists to turn raw inputs into compelling visual outputs
Help determine the best visual form for each insight and how it fits into the broader story
Lead from a design perspective while being a thoughtful, cross‑functional creative partner
Build trust through clear communication, curiosity, and openness to feedback
Skills & Experience
This role requires strong visualization skills and strong publication instincts. A successful candidate will have:
Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and other visualization tools
Strong design and data visualization experience within Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, and other presentation tools
The ability to manage complex layouts, grids, styles, and multi-document systems
Comfort working with quantitative data and written narratives
What This Role Is Not
A pure brand or marketing design role
Focused on social media graphics or ad creative
This role is for someone who loves the full arc of data storytelling design —from understanding complex inputs, to shaping clear and accurate visualizations, to delivering polished, high‑end publications and presentations that make insights stick.
