Position Summary
Community and Marketing Specialist is responsible for driving strategic membership growth and increasing member engagement while fostering relationships that reflect the co‑op's values and role in the community. Specific areas of responsibility include member services and growth, event planning, coordinating educational classes, in‑store customer education, and relationship building with local businesses and non‑profits.
This role requires strong communication, customer service, public speaking, intercultural competence, and organizational skills as well as initiative, time management, project management, event planning, integrity, and the ability to develop and execute membership growth and engagement initiatives.

Schedule
Monday - Friday business hours. Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be required based on business needs. May work remotely up to one day per week.
Qualifications
Customer Service: Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, including positive interactions, responsiveness, and follow-through.
Communication: Demonstrated ability to effectively and respectfully communicate in person, online, and over the phone with internal and external customers; English proficiency.
Membership Growth & Recruitment: Experience developing or supporting membership recruitment and customer acquisition strategies.
Marketing and Promotion: Experience promoting programs, memberships, or services through events, outreach, or marketing channels; ability to develop engaging messaging that communicates the value.
Event Planning: Experience planning events or programs that increase community engagement and support membership growth.
Community Outreach: Evaluate, schedule, and positively represent organization at community events; develop and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, organizations, and businesses, fostering strong local connections to drive successful community outreach initiatives.
Project Management and Organization: Demonstrated ability to plan and manage projects while prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines; excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through, with the ability to independently build and sustain meaningful community relationships.
Data Analysis and Evaluation: Experience reviewing participation data, membership trends, and program outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and inform future initiatives.
Culturally Competent: Cultural competency and the commitment to work with diverse populations and other stakeholders; proven ability to adjust outreach strategies and materials to meet the specific cultural needs and preferences of different communities ensuring accessibility and inclusion.
Technical Skills: Ability to quickly and accurately utilize internet, email, word processing, graphics and multimedia, spreadsheets with formulas and databases; create slideshows in PowerPoint, formulas in Excel, Mail Merge in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
Public Speaking: Experience with public speaking and interacting with an audience; ability to compose and present an articulate and engaging presentation to a group.

Physical and Working Requirements
The position involves frequent stationary tasks, along with regular movement within the store, offices, and classrooms. Occasional positioning is required to access both low and high shelving, equipment, and products. The job also entails the occasional movement of containers weighing up to 50 lbs. Community and Marketing Specialists utilize various equipment including but not limited to computers and printers. This role requires exchanging accurate information in person, over the phone, and through email and other written communication. Additionally, they must have the ability to travel between locations and offsite locations, including potential outdoor environments, and must meet the Mississippi Market's safe driver requirements. This position requires an individual to be at least 18 years old.
