
Key Account Manager- Pet Specialty

Pet Life Unlimited is seeking a Key Account Manager, Pet Specialty to lead strategic customer and distributor relationships within the Pet Specialty channel.. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding distribution, and strengthening long-term partnerships with Pet Specialty retailers. Success requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders to execute effective sales strategies and deliver strong business results.
This is a full-time position.
This position is remote within key account HQ Markets – preferably West Coast
• Expand distribution and increase sales volume across assigned Pet Specialty accounts
• Build trust with customers through strategic planning and consistent, value‑added engagement
• Contribute to category and brand growth through promotions, pricing strategies, and market insights
• Partner cross-functionally to support forecasting, production planning, and account strategy
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary contact for assigned retailers and distributors, nurturing existing business while driving incremental growth
• Analyze historical and current purchase data to forecast sales, assess profitability, and identify opportunities for expansion
• Lead and participate in customer business reviews, market presentations, and strategic planning discussions
• Maintain regular communication to ensure customer needs are consistently met or exceeded
• Implement promotional programs and initiatives to drive volume and enhance brand visibility
• Provide accurate sales forecasts and demand insights to support production and supply planning
• Work with Team on pricing, promotions, quotes, and broader account strategies
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues related to product, service, or execution
• Monitor competitive activity, market trends, and merchandising approaches
• Manage travel and representative expenses in alignment with approved budgets
• Demonstrate a proactive, growth oriented mindset focused on building and expanding strategic relationships
• Represent PLU professionally while adhering to all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field
• 4–8 years of direct sales experience within Pet Specialty, or related CPG categories
• Proven experience managing headquarters accounts and distributor relationships
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret trends and sales performance metrics
• Advanced proficiency in developing compelling PowerPoint sales presentations
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer relationship skills
• Highly organized, detail oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities concurrently
• Demonstrated success working cross functionally with internal teams and external partners
• Ability to travel locally or regionally, including regular time spent in the field
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent tools
