Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include: Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of related experience in a post-secondary educational environment; Knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs and services; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Student-oriented mindset; Ability to work with a diverse student population; Sound judgment and discretion in interactions with students and the public; Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications; Attention to detail and accuracy; Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be self-motivated; Willingness to handle routine tasks; Documented work experience in customer service and related areas may be substituted for post-secondary experience.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
The essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide academic advising to help students maintain financial aid eligibility for all types of aid; Advise IRSC students on financial aid processes and options; Maintain knowledge of Division services to support student needs; Advise on the Financial Aid application process; Evaluate and approve/disapprove student applications; Determine various aid awards; supervise student employees; Record application information into electronic systems and create accurate records; Apply professional judgment to student requests and appeals; Support Financial Aid Office planning and operations, including coordination of state grants and scholarships and monitoring institutional and community scholarships, as well as preparing student loans.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The primary duty is academic advisement of students for career planning and guiding students through financial aid planning. Specific duties include: Analyze and approve student aid petitions for special conditions; Conduct individual advising sessions with students and families; Manage state financial aid programs; Authorize eligibility for financial aid recipients; Determine academic eligibility for scholarships and programs and coordinate awards; Promote awareness of educational resources; Prepare financial aid solutions for general students; Serve as a resource for Bright Futures and financial aid information; Conduct information sessions at public venues; Monitor student adherence to academic progress relative to financial aid; Assign tasks to work-study students; Develop and maintain student records; Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach, stoop, and occasionally lift items over 25 pounds. It requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines (copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and related equipment). Employee safety standards should be followed.

Classification: Staff | Supervisory: No | FLSA Exempt: Yes | Employment Type: Regular Compensation and Application Deadline: The starting salary is $40,570.96. All salary calculations start at the minimum and are based on education and experience. Open until filled.
