Position Overview:
The City of Sioux Center is offering a paid part-time summer internship centered on marketing the community and promoting tourism. We are looking for a college student interested in a career in tourism or hospitality in Iowa who wants professional level experience in the field. This program will give the student an opportunity to work alongside professionals and make a measurable impact on local tourism efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop 10 mini-campaigns. Working with the Communications Coordinator, envision and craft 10 packages highlighting itineraries and destinations. Each will include a blog, social media post/reel, and additional marketing suggestions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to capture photos and video of local destinations.
Assist with planning and supporting local events and tourism activities (Taste of Sioux Center, August 2026).
Update, create, and edit digital and print materials and destination databases.
Complete additional duties as assigned to support tourism operations.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year college or university program
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Interest in tourism, hospitality, marketing, communications, or related field
This internship offers valuable professional experience, networking opportunities, and exposure to the dynamic tourism and hospitality industry in Iowa.
