The Director for the Office of Research and Planning is responsible for conducting a variety of analytic research activities, including maintenance of the PUSD research records and historical data; the evaluation of education-related programs; analysis of student outcome data; design and implementation of survey methodologies and questionnaire development; conducting technical analysis of district assessment efforts, and forecasting of district population, school enrollments, and residential development, mapping, and geocoding. Essential Duties, Responsibilities

As requested by the District Governing Board, the Superintendent, District administrators, or staff, the position will be responsible for the design, implementation and reporting of research investigations and studies in the areas of student achievement, program evaluation, organizational operations, curriculum & instruction, assessment system and development, and/or any other area of inquiry that directly relates to the level and quality of student learning and the mission of the Peoria Unified School District. Provide all levels of the organization accurate, factual, reliable, and valid information on all aspects of the organization and its related environs including, but not limited to, student learning outcomes, instructional strategies, program effectiveness, and the characteristics of community, economic, and demographic factors which impact the learning environment. Provide technical assistance to District staff in the areas of research methodologies, data collection and analysis, database development strategies statistical methods, survey and sampling design, questionnaire development, program evaluation, and the general analysis and interpretation of data and information. Advance an original research agenda concerning student learning, program evaluation, instructional effectiveness, or any other topic as it relates to the operation and effectiveness of the organization. Be knowledgeable of, and participate in, contemporary education research issues at the local, state, and national levels. Participate in facility planning by providing demographic enrollment projections for the District. Construct a computer-based research information system containing a wide variety of District information on student learning, programs, district operations, and staffing. Provide technical assistance in the development of district-wide computer information systems, and related data systems. Assist with state and/or national statistical reporting requirements as required by the state legislature, or the state board of education. Design, organize, and oversee the staff and operations of the PUSD Office of Research, Planning, and Assessment, including identification of staff responsibilities, hiring and managing staff, development and application of budgets, equipment, and related operations necessary for the successful completion of assigned duties. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures. Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of research methods, statistical analysis of data, and/or measurement and assessment. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and at least one statistics-oriented and one relational database software program. Must possess exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district. Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, Statistics, Economics, Education, or related discipline that also includes academic concentrations and/or substantial coursework in research methods, data analysis, and/or measurement and assessment, OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Other Requirements

A minimum five years' experience in an educational setting and/or Arizona teaching certification is highly preferred. Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card Must be able to pass a background clearance check
