Student Assistant – Fitness Personal Trainer
The Student Assistant will support Campus Recreation and Intramurals as a Fitness Personal Trainer on the Armstrong Campus beginning Summer or Fall 2026.
Responsibilities
Designs safe and effective exercise programs based on client goals, needs and abilities, which may be reviewed by the Fitness Graduate Assistant and/or Fitness and Wellness Coordinator
Maintains no less than six personal training sessions per week (holiday breaks and summer are excluded)
Keeps client records organized and confidential according to HIPAA guidelines
Assists with various special events (Powerlifting Competition, Fitness Challenges, etc.)
Attends monthly meetings and training sessions as scheduled by professional staff
Keeps all certifications up to date
Must be willing to obtain Personal Training Certification within 90 days of hire if not currently certified and may then be eligible for a pay increase
Shift Specifics
Up to 25 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability
Availability will determine a Summer or Fall start date
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education
Prefer a personal trainer certification from one of the following organizations:
National Strength and Conditioning Association
American College of Sports Medicine
National Academy of Sports Medicine
American Council on Exercise
International Sport Science Association
Aerobics and Fitness Association of America
Proposed Salary $12.00 per hour
