Unit A Salary Scale This is an anticipated position, contingent upon approval of the school budget. General Description: Watertown Public Schools seeks an outstanding High School Science Teacher / CoLAB Program Director to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an educator who is passionate about both science instruction and expanding students’ access to real-world STEM learning experiences. Watertown High School fosters a collaborative environment that supports creativity, innovation, and professional growth. In the Science Teacher role (0.6 FTE), the educator will teach three science classes and provide high-quality instruction in biology, chemistry, or physics. Instruction will emphasize inquiry-based learning, laboratory investigation, and preparation for MCAS and college and career readiness. In the CoLAB Program Director role (0.4 FTE), the educator will oversee the school’s CoLAB program, dedicating approximately 10 hours per week to coordinating STEM career exploration opportunities, managing student programs and partnerships, and expanding real-world learning opportunities for students. Responsibilities

: High School Science Teacher - approximately 24 hours per week Plan and deliver high-quality science instruction aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Curriculum Frameworks Design and implement inquiry-based laboratory experiences Develop standards-based lessons that promote scientific reasoning, problem solving, and critical thinking Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners Assess student learning and use data to inform instruction and support student growth Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement and safety Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, and administrators to support student success Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress Participate in team meetings, professional development, and curriculum planning Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance Administer assessments in accordance with district and state guidelines CoLAB Program Director - approximately 10 hours per week Coordinate career exploration opportunities including guest speaker presentations and industry partnerships Plan and manage CoLAB field trips, including logistics, school approvals, and transportation Lead the CoLAB Club, organizing monthly after-school meetings featuring STEM activities and networking opportunities Develop and oversee the CoLAB mentoring program, including recruitment, training materials, and student participation Maintain and promote summer STEM internship and enrichment opportunities for students Support students through application and interview preparation for STEM opportunities Maintain program databases and track student participation and outcomes Promote CoLAB programming through social media and school communications Serve as a member of the CoLAB Board and collaborate with community partners Core Competencies:

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as an 8-12 in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, families, and colleagues. Experience teaching high school biology, chemistry, or physics. Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching practices and diverse learning needs. Experience with data-informed instruction and curriculum development. Preferred: Multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, with Spanish and Portuguese language skills preferred. Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
