Founded in 2009 by serial entrepreneur Amr Salahieh, Shifamed LLC is a privately held medical technology incubator focused on the development of novel medical products to address clinical needs in the rapidly evolving fields of cardiology and ophthalmology. Description
You will serve as the hands-on architect behind the "central nervous system" of Laza’s robotic imaging platform. This is a high-impact, player-coach role where you will define the system architecture and actively contribute to the core codebase while orchestrating a multidisciplinary team of embedded, control, and cloud engineers. You won't just oversee development; you will set the engineering standard—writing critical path code, driving architectural decisions, and bridging the gap between complex low-level motion control and AI-driven imaging. You will be the technical anchor for a team delivering a safety-critical, life-saving medical device. Responsibilities, Skills & Hands-On Experience
Architect and execute software framework for system. Lead, mentor and grow software team for system software, imaging reconstruction, UI/IX, firmware and cloud connectivity. Develop and scope project plans. Create requirements and formal test protocols for new features. Oversee the full cycle of the development of software. Utilize and develop software for real-time systems for safe and fault-tolerant software applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement systems for medical devices. Implement and optimize software modules for path planning, kinematics, sensor integration, and simulations for testing and development. Education & Work Experience
MS or PhD degree in CS, EE, Robotics or a related field. Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, including 5+ years of technical management responsibilities. Proficiency in programming using C++, C and Python, and experience with OOP design. Proven project management experience on large software projects with hardware components and real time systems. Experience with user interfaces and user experience in 3D environments. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with software development process in a regulated medical device environment is a plus. Our salary ranges are calculated by role, level, and location. Please note that your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, location, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications. The base salary range for this full-time position is between $225,000 - $265,000 + equity + benefits. Notice to Candidates:
