Overview
Callanan Industries is seeking a Heavy Highway Construction Superintendent. Job responsibilities will include the supervision of Heavy Highway Contracts. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters.
Responsibilities
Lead supervision of Heavy Highway contracts on assigned projects.
Plan, direct, and coordinate activities to meet project goals within time frames and funding parameters.
Prepare schedules and other materials for preconstruction meetings for NYSDOT.
Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure progress on schedule and within budget.
Interact with Owners, Consultants, Subcontractors and Suppliers.
Review project proposals and plans to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing and equipment requirements and allotment of resources to various phases.
Assist with bidding process.
Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
Adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy and maintain PPE in a functional condition.
Physical exam, drug screen and background check required before employment by Callanan Industries - Ulster Paving Company.
Qualifications
Willingness to travel within a radius of two hours of the Capital District, NY area.
Ability to work both days and nights and be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, and time of shift changes.
Experience in Heavy Highway construction supervision with NYSDOT & Thruway specifications and plans.
Ability to prepare schedules for NYSDOT preconstruction meetings and complete a NYSDOT job from start to finish.
Ability to interact with Owners, Consultants, Subcontractors and Suppliers.
Self-motivated, conscientious, and a good team player.
Experience reviewing project proposals and plans for time frame, funding, procedures, staffing and equipment requirements.
Assist with bidding process.
Ability to adhere to PPE policy and maintain PPE in functional condition.
Physical exam, drug screen and background check required before employment.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
Prior experience in Heavy Highway construction supervision with NYSDOT & Thruway.

Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $100,000-$120,000 + bonus
