Job Title: Marine Electrician
Job Description Join a dedicated team that supports the successful and safe operation of U.S. Naval Ships by providing cabling, equipment, and C5ISR system installations for the Navy and the Military. This role involves performing general manual labor to support this critical mission. This is a six-month contract-to-hire position with working hours from Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions on ships, boats, and marine equipment.
Conduct various tests or experiments, including selecting, setting up, and operating standard test equipment, recording test data, and performing minor modifications in test setups.
Repair electrical wiring to restore power to a ship's engine and navigation systems.
Secure work areas aboard vessels to ensure safety and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests and drawings.
Perform routine tasks such as tensile or hardness tests and operate and adjust simple test equipment.
Implement safety programs and conduct safety surveillances and walk-throughs.
Essential Skills Experience in electrical work in a related field and shipboard experience.
Ability to obtain OSHA 10 certification and respirator qualification.
Experience with multipin connectors and electrical testing requirements such as ground checks and RSPT testing.
Proficiency in reading and understanding drawings at both Tradesman and Apprentice levels.
Knowledge of electrical enclosures layout and cutting, electrical hook-ups, and multiple meter usage.
Ability to work in high heat spaces and climb shipyard dry dock stairs and ladders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Active DoD Secret clearance.
OSHA Certification.
Fiber optic certification.
Familiarization with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.
Ability to travel to Newport News, VA.
