About the Role:
We’re looking for a Vice President of National Accounts responsible for the overall strategy, performance, and relationship management of national and large financial institution partners within our life insurance and annuities business.
This role provides executive leadership for National Accounts and serves as the senior point of accountability for client satisfaction, revenue growth, profitability, and long-term partnership development. The Vice President of National Accounts leads and develops National Account Managers, Directors, Business Relationship Managers, and an Event Coordinator, while partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Product, Compliance, and executive leadership to deliver integrated, scalable solutions across the enterprise.
What You’ll Do National Account Strategy & Leadership
Establish and execute the national account strategy for large financial institutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise growth objectives and distribution priorities
Provide executive oversight and leadership for key national relationships, serving as a senior escalation point and trusted partner to institutional leadership
Drive revenue growth, retention, and profitability through disciplined account planning, performance management, and strategic expansion initiatives
Represent the organization at executive-level meetings, industry events, and strategic partner engagements
Key member of the Retail Executive Leadership Team who will work collaboratively to drive enterprise top line and bottom line results
Lead, coach, and develop Director Account Managers, Business Relationship Managers, and Event Coordinator(s) to ensure consistent execution and high performance
Set clear performance expectations, goals, and accountability metrics for the national accounts team
Foster a collaborative, client-focused culture that emphasizes proactive service, problem-solving, and relationship stewardship
Support talent development, succession planning, and hiring aligned with business growth needs
Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, and Distribution leadership to align national account strategies with broader business initiatives
Collaborate with Marketing and Events to ensure client-facing meetings, conferences, and engagements support relationship growth and brand standards
Support sales enablement initiatives and ensure national account strategies are effectively executed across regions and channels
Ensure consistent communication and alignment between national account teams and internal stakeholders
Client Relationship & Service Oversight
Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through proactive service models, issue resolution, and continuous improvement
Oversee service delivery across national accounts, ensuring responsiveness, consistency, and adherence to agreed-upon service standards
Anticipate client needs and market trends, translating insights into actionable strategies and solutions
Manage complex client issues and service remediation efforts with sound judgment and executive presence
Maintain awareness of regulatory, compliance, and operational considerations relevant to national accounts within a life insurance and annuities environment
Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Operations to ensure all activities, agreements, and communications align with internal policies and regulatory requirements
Support governance, reporting, and risk management processes related to national account relationships
Ensure disciplined execution of contracts, pricing arrangements, and performance commitments
What You’ll Bring
10+ years of experience in life insurance and/or annuities distribution, national accounts, or financial institution relationship management
Proven leadership experience managing senior-level account management and relationship teams
Strong background in wholesaling, key account management, or institutional sales leadership
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain executive-level client relationships
Experience driving revenue growth, retention, and profitability across complex financial institution partners
Excellent leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
Ability to travel for business 60-70% of the time
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong analytical and reporting capabilities related to account performance and growth metrics
Experience working with CRM systems, sales reporting tools, and executive dashboards
Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights for leadership and clients
