Overview As a member of the Public Relations & Marketing Department, the Marketing Specialist develops and produces engaging multimedia content that promotes Western Nebraska Community College’s programs, student success stories, and campus initiatives to prospective students, current students, WNCC’s service district and beyond. This position supports content strategy and execution across multichannel marketing platforms. The Marketing Specialist serves as the department lead for managing and maintaining the College’s Canva enterprise account and all secondary accounts, including oversight of branded templates, user permissions, and brand compliance. This position also oversees the organization and maintenance of the college’s digital asset library, ensuring photography, video, and graphic files are properly cataloged, accessible, and aligned with institutional brand standards to support ongoing marketing and communications efforts.

Responsibilities

Content Creation & Production: Work with student groups, faculty, and staff to capture high-quality photography and videography of campus events, student life, academic programs, and marketing initiatives.

Produce and edit short-form video content optimized for social media (e.g., Reels, TikToks, YouTube shorts) and other digital platforms.

Video and photo editing, ensuring assets meet brand and quality standards.

Content Strategy & Collaboration: Collaborate primarily with the Digital Marketing Specialist on content strategy and editorial planning to support enrollment, engagement, and institutional goals.

Collaborate with campus staff and faculty to gather content and ensure cohesive messaging about WNCC events and activities.

Assist with managing a content calendar for social media.

Canva Management: Manage and maintain the institution’s Canva account, including branded templates, photo/video assets, and collaborative workflows.

Create and update visual templates in Canva for digital campaigns, social posts, flyers, presentations, etc.

Provide Canva support and training to campus partners.

Digital Asset Management: Maintain organized digital asset libraries for easy retrieval of photos, videos, and graphics.

Assist with managing and maintaining on-campus digital signage.

Team Collaboration: Support broader WNCC marketing initiatives across multiple platforms.

Ensure all content and communications comply with WNCC brand standards and accessibility best practices.

Provide responsible, strategic, and creative support as part of the Public Relations & Marketing team.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree with a focus in marketing, communications, or related field preferred, but a significant combination of education and experience will be considered.

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or social media management.

License or Certificate: Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC’s vehicle insurance.

Other requirements: Alternate Sitting or Standing at Will – The ability to alternate between sitting and standing as needed when this need cannot be accommodated by scheduled breaks and/or lunch period.

Keyboarding – Entering text or data into a computer by means of a traditional keyboard.

Speaking – Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Hearing Requirements – The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds.
