Overview
About the Human Machine Collaboration Institute (HMCI)
The Human Machine Collaboration Institute (HMCI) is an AI research and professional services firm shaping the future of human–machine collaboration. We partner with cities, corporations, and institutions to accelerate digital transformation through education, applied research, and advisory services.
Our mission is to help humans strive alongside intelligent machines. Our vision is to answer the deepest questions in the universe.
At HMCI, we live by our principles:
We create the future.
We are augmented by AI.
We are continual learners and adapters.
If you’re the kind of person who gets just as fired up planning a hackathon as you do setting the stage for an executive forum — and you believe that great experiences change minds — this is the place for you.
Role Overview The Events and Community Lead will be the creative engine behind HMCI’s event portfolio and community presence. This role owns the full lifecycle of HMCI’s events — from high-energy tech competitions and developer meetups to polished executive forums and advisory committee sessions.
You’re a builder and a host. You can design a robotics competition that buzzes with energy and then pivot to facilitate a boardroom-level conversation with precision and professionalism. You bring strategy, creativity, and operational excellence to every touchpoint — and you use AI tools to move faster and smarter.
Key Responsibilities

Create engaging activations — demos, prizes, challenges — that draw in builders, students, and the tech community.
Recruit, brief, and manage volunteers, emcees, judges, and speakers.
Executive Forums & Advisory Meetings
Coordinate intimate, high-value gatherings including executive roundtables, advisory board meetings, and leadership briefings.
Manage invitations, agendas, materials, and AV for polished, distraction-free executive experiences.

Write compelling event copy, landing page content, and promotional materials.
Collaborate with the Social Media & Brand Manager on content strategy tied to events.
Capture event moments through photos, short-form video, or live content for repurposing.
Partnerships & Community Engagement
Build relationships with universities, tech hubs, employer partners, and community organizations to co-host or amplify events.

Operations & AI Enablement
Track event budgets, timelines, and post-event metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Leverage AI tools to streamline event planning, communications, and documentation.
Maintain templates, runbooks, and SOPs to scale HMCI’s event capacity over time.

Proven track record managing end-to-end events of varying size and style.
Strong project management skills — you keep 10 moving pieces on track without losing the vibe.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable engaging executives and student hackers alike.
Experience with event tools, marketing platforms, and collaboration software.
Preferred
