This role is a 6-month fixed term contract
The
Salesforce Administrator
is responsible for the day-to-day administration and optimization of Mercy Ships’ Salesforce CRM platform. This role ensures Salesforce effectively supports volunteer recruitment, engagement, and communications workflows by maintaining system integrity, improving usability, and enabling teams to work efficiently with accurate and reliable data. The Salesforce Administrator partners closely with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into efficient Salesforce solutions that align with the organization’s mission and operational goals.
How You’ll Contribute
Optimize and maintain Salesforce objects, fields, page layouts, record types, validation rules, flows, and automations.
Respond to departmental needs and translate functional requirements into practical Salesforce solutions, especially around leads, contacts, and opportunity workflow management.
Monitor system performance and proactively identify opportunities for further optimization and improvement.
CRM Support & User Enablement
Serve as the primary point of contact for Salesforce-related support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for Global Volunteer Recruitment.
Provide guidance, support, and solutions to colleagues for Salesforce usage and best practice across teams.
Assist with setup, profiles, permission sets, roles, and access controls to ensure data security and appropriate visibility.
Data Integrity & Governance
Maintain high standards of data quality through validation rules, deduplication processes, and regular audits.
Develop and enforce best practices for data entry, field usage, and lifecycle management.
Ensure department-wide compliance with organizational data governance, privacy, and security standards.
System Enhancements & Integrations
Support the implementation of Salesforce enhancements, new features, and process improvements.
Collaborate with IT and external vendors to manage integrations with third-party tools (e.g., marketing automation, forms, email platforms).
Test, deploy, and document changes using best-practice change management processes.
Reporting & Operational Support
Build and maintain standard reports and dashboards to support operational visibility and decision-making.
Assist teams in understanding Salesforce data structures and how to leverage reports effectively.
Partner with data and analytics colleagues to ensure Salesforce configurations support accurate reporting.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with Volunteer Recruitment, Experience, and other key teams to understand evolving needs.
Clearly communicate system changes, enhancements, and impacts to both technical and non-technical users.
Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that improve CRM adoption and effectiveness.
The Ideal Candidate
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
High attention to detail, data accuracy, and confidentiality.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Marketing, Data Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
1–3 years of hands-on Salesforce administration experience.
Salesforce Administrator Certification (ADM 201) strongly preferred or in progress.
Experience supporting CRM users in a recruitment, nonprofit, or mission-driven environment is preferred.
Strong understanding of Salesforce configuration, automation tools, and security model.
