We are seeking a hands-on Senior Design Managerto oversee the design process across a portfolio of complex, high-security Ministry of Justice(MOJ) construction projects. This is a fast-paced role requiring deep technical expertise, stakeholder management skills, and a proven track record of delivering innovative, compliant, and resilient design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the design process frominceptionto completion, through the RIBA Plan of Works including producing design proposals, managing the tender process, and overseeing the construction phase¿
Lead design team and sub-contractors ensuring design meets project requirements and standards
Prepare andmonitordesign programs, ensuring deliverables are met and project timelines aremaintained.¿
Ensure that all resources for coordination are appointed
Responsible for design compliance, build ability, efficiency of design and supporting the bid process.
Responsible to lead the signoff ofdocuments to the correct status
Identifyand mitigate design risks, including health and safety and financial risks.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and standards including CTM
Manage the flow of design information and the Document Control
Liaise with internal teams to ensure the design process is integrated with other aspects of the project¿
Provide technical advice and guidance to the design team¿
Develop andmaintaineffective project documentation, including project plans, risk assessments, and design briefs¿
Manage project budgets and ensure financial targets are met¿
Ensure all design work is completed to a high standard, within agreed timescales and budgets¿
Keepup-to-datewith developments in design techniques, software, and technology¿
About You
Architect, Engineer, or equivalent with experience in leading design on large scale projects.
Good knowledge of contractual issues related to consultants
Understands the RIBA plan of work
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Experience with digital design tools and platforms (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, BIM360).
Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and deliver compliant solutions.
Security Clearance including an enhanced DBS will be essential for this role.
