Job Summary

The Commercial Lines Sr. Underwriter reports to an Underwriting Manager and is responsible for underwriting and marketing new and renewal business, as well as endorsements, within their designated authority. This role partners closely with Sales and Marketing to develop strong agency relationships and drive profitable growth while independently managing an assigned territory. Review and assess small to mid-size risks of low to moderate complexity, with occasional involvement in more complex accounts Identify underwriting and marketing challenges, analyze information, and make sound, timely decisions Manage submission flow and underwriting activity for assigned agencies Escalate risks that fall outside of authority appropriately Maintain thorough underwriting documentation to ensure compliance with guidelines and regulatory standards Collaborate with sales and marketing to generate submissions aligned with underwriting appetite Partner with sales leadership to develop and execute agency business plans Communicate with agents and policyholders to gather information and provide updates on submissions and endorsements Participate in agency meetings, training sessions, and industry events Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with agency partners using a consultative approach Leverage market insights and data to inform underwriting decisions Evaluate catastrophe exposures using available modeling tools Determine reinsurance needs and secure placement or refer as needed Support strategic initiatives, system enhancements, and quality assurance efforts Identify opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency Assist with training and mentoring of less experienced team members Required Skills and Abilities

Strong understanding of the insurance marketplace and industry trends Knowledge of underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities Sense of urgency, accountability, and reliability Strong collaboration and teamwork skills Clear and professional communication, both written and verbal Ability to analyze risk and make data-driven decisions High level of customer service focus Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related tools Understanding of reinsurance concepts and impact on underwriting decisions Education and Experience

5+ years of underwriting, policy services, or related insurance experience Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience Demonstrated ability to manage workload, solve problems, and collaborate effectively Industry designations are a plus Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with agents and colleagues Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods working at a computer, including virtual meetings Occasional travel may be required
