Role Overview

The Director of Cybersecurity will lead and collaborate with the cybersecurity team to ensure the security and resilience of Brixmor's infrastructure, data, and operational systems across on-prem and cloud environments. This role blends hands-on technical expertise in cybersecurity, networking, and Microsoft Azure with strategic leadership-partnering closely with IT, Infrastructure/Network, Cloud/Platform, Application teams, and business stakeholders to embed security into day-to-day operations and the technology roadmap.

Key Responsibilities Cybersecurity Strategy : Execute a comprehensive cybersecurity strategy aligned with Brixmor's business and IT goals, translating risk into practical roadmaps, priorities, and measurable outcomes. Risk Management : Identify, assess, and mitigate cyber risk across enterprise networks, identity platforms, endpoints, cloud workloads, and operational technologies. Serve as an advisor to senior leadership on cybersecurity risk, trends, and mitigation strategies. Compliance & Governance : Lead governance processes and continuous improvements aligned to frameworks (e.g., NIST) and internal policies; partner with audit, legal, and IT teams to evidence controls and drive remediation. Security Operations : Provide technical direction and hands-on support for threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and disaster recovery planning across network, server, endpoint, and cloud environments. Team Leadership : Manage and mentor a high-performing cybersecurity team; set clear expectations, coach technical growth, and foster a culture of security ownership and awareness across the organization. Technology Oversight : Lead evaluation, selection, and management of security technologies and partners (including network and cloud security capabilities); ensure solutions integrate with the broader infrastructure and operational needs. Third-Party & Vendor Risk Management : Establish and lead a third-party security risk program, including security evaluation and due diligence for vendors, review of security terms and requirements, and ongoing monitoring to ensure vendor controls align with Brixmor's risk appetite and compliance needs. Qualifications

10+ years of experience in cybersecurity leadership, preferably in real estate, retail, or asset-heavy industries. Hands-on experience with modern cybersecurity tooling and practices, including network security concepts (segmentation, firewalls, VPNs, routing/switching fundamentals) and Microsoft Azure security services and controls. Proven track record building and operating enterprise security programs while leading, developing, and retaining high-performing teams. Deep understanding of hybrid cloud security, identity and access management, and risk/compliance requirements; able to influence secure architecture decisions across infrastructure, networking, and application teams. Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to partner across teams, drive alignment, and communicate risk and priorities to technical and executive audiences. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; advanced certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) required.
