Human Resources Specialist

The Human Resources Specialist (HRS) is responsible for providing human resources and facilities management support at MACPAC. The HRS reports to and works directly with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to process personnel actions, employee orientations, separations, record keeping, file maintenance, updating policy documentation, and providing administrative and event support. Like all MACPAC employees, the Human Resources Specialist is expected to: demonstrate and model commitment to team and personal success work collaboratively with others inside and outside of the organization adapt behavior in response to feedback and experience contribute to the growth, expertise, and knowledge of colleagues hold self accountable for meeting expectations in a timely, professional manner foster a culture of inclusion and belonging Major duties include: coordinating and performing recruitment activities making recommendations for continuous quality improvement in the agency's recruitment processes performing onboarding processes for new hires performing offboarding processes for retirements, resignations and terminations preparing personnel actions and supporting documentation to be submitted to the General Services Administration (GSA), Commissions and Boards Services (CABS) for processing researching, liaising with GSA-CABS, and serving as an internal subject matter expert on benefits and employee obligations serving as a member of employee working groups and helping implement internal staff engagement policies and practices assisting with maintaining the employee handbook acting as timekeeper in our electronic time and leave system, HRLinks preparing relocation reimbursement vouchers for employees updating and maintaining records and systems to accurately reflect changes related to staffing, payroll, taxes, benefits, address, PII data and policy maintaining access to required federal and MACPAC systems and accounts maintaining official personnel records for commissioners and staff performing administrative aspects of recruitment creating, using, updating and maintaining Human Resources work instructions supporting office operations by monitoring the Office of Personnel Management website and Alert DC regarding emergencies affecting office operations serving as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on certain administrative contracts maintaining internal directories for staff and vendors monitoring supply inventory, placing supply orders and stocking supplies monitoring printer meter readings on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy of billing corresponding with building management for maintenance orders, repairs, and visitor information, keeping certificates of insurance up to date sharing building correspondence with staff regarding closures, maintenance, window cleaning, e-waste recycling maintaining online accounts including but not limited to Kastle, Canon and One Call Now maintaining and monitoring the physical inventory of office furniture and non-IT equipment serving as a member of the Emergency Response Team contributing to successful execution of Commission meetings and other events by providing on-site support during events and taking commissioner attendance for payroll purposes performing other duties as assigned Knowledge and skills required include: knowledge of administrative and record keeping procedures familiarity with or willingness to learn about federal rules and regulations as they apply to human resources matters and travel strong and consistent organizational skills ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing responsibilities and tasks ability to successfully work with MACPAC senior management, staff, federal contractors and other stakeholders strong oral and written communications skills ability to be discerning and use good judgement ability to accomplish tasks in a timely, accurate manner an orientation toward problem solving, teamwork, and accountability willingness to engage in learning and development ability to occasionally lift 30 pounds and move rolling furniture Experience and education required include: A bachelor's degree in human resources, public administration or other related fields is required or equivalent work experience At least two years of successful professional experience in human resources, operations or administrative roles of increasing responsibility with U.S. government agencies, nonprofit organizations or other companies doing business with the U.S. government Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000
