Assessment Director and Associate Professor of PA

position.

Position Summary:

The Assessment Director, also a PA Principal Faculty member will have a contract status of assistant or associate professor based on previous experience. This faculty will have leadership responsibility for the implementation and oversight of continuous improvement of the PA Program's comprehensive programmatic assessment and evaluation system.

This role ensures systematic measurement of student learning outcomes, curricular effectiveness, remediation processes, and program performance in alignment with ARC-PA standards and institutional expectations. The Assessment Director reports to the Program Director and works collaboratively with the Program Director, Medical Director, faculty, and institutional leadership to support accreditation readiness and data-informed decision making.

Primary Responsibilities

Teaching (50%)

Deliver didactic and/or clinical phase instruction consistent with faculty expertise.

Develop measurable learning objectives aligned with program competencies and summative outcomes.

Participate in course coordination, assessment development, and grading.

Integrate best practices in instructional design, assessment methodology, and learner-centered pedagogy.

Advise and mentor students as assigned.

Programmatic Assessment & Remediation Oversight (30%)

Lead the development, implementation, and annual review of the program's comprehensive assessment plan, ensuring alignment across didactic, clinical, and summative phases.

Develop and maintain dashboards and longitudinal tracking systems for student performance metrics (e.g., course performance, PACKRAT, EORs, summative assessments, PANCE outcomes).

Conduct item analysis, standard setting, and performance trend analyses to inform curricular improvements.

Oversee and monitor the student remediation process, including:

Development of structured remediation policies and procedures.

Coordination of individualized remediation plans.

Tracking remediation interventions and measurable outcomes.

Reporting aggregate remediation data to faculty committees.

Ensuring remediation processes align with ARC-PA standards and institutional policies.

Provide faculty development in assessment literacy, rubric development, constructive alignment, and evaluation best practices.

Facilitate regular program evaluation cycles and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Accreditation & Self-Study Leadership (15%)

Serve as accreditation evidence manager for ARC-PA standards.

Coordinate development and submission of accreditation self-study documents and compliance reports.

Maintain documentation repositories, assessment archives, and compliance matrices.

Prepare faculty and staff for site visits and ongoing accreditation monitoring.

Monitor changes in accreditation standards and integrate updates into program policies and practices.

Service & Scholarship (5%)

Participate in faculty governance, including Curriculum and Assessment Committees.

Contribute to scholarship in assessment, health professions education, or related fields.

Engage in professional development and service at the institutional and national levels.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or related discipline.

Eligibility for or current certification as a PA-C.

Experience in a PA educational program.

Some knowledge of educational assessment, program evaluation, or accreditation processes.

Familiarity of ARC-PA standards and continuous quality improvement frameworks.

Terminal degree (EdD, PhD, DHSc, or related field).

Prior leadership in accreditation self-study development.

Compensation:

Annual Wage is $105,684-$117,426.67, depending on qualifications and experience.

The salary range listed reflects a good-faith estimate of what we reasonably anticipate to pay for this position, based on market data and internal equity, at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and other relevant factors. St. Catherine reserves the right to modify or adjust compensation depending on University needs.
