Under the direction of the IACUC / IBC Manager, provides administrative and organizational support to ensure the functioning of Villanova University’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), in compliance with federal laws and regulations and university policy on the use of animals and biohazards in research.

Duties and Responsibilities Protocol Management
Completes daily tasks for the IACUC and IBC committees including:
Manages the online protocol system for IACUC and the manual protocol process for IBC
Pre-reviews all submitted protocols, assigns serial numbers (IBC)
Maintains records of approval, expiration, modification or annual renewal in university system of record
Sends correspondence regarding protocol reviews
Maintains documentation of animal use
Committee Support
Assists in meeting agenda preparation
Prepares, distributes, and ensures availability of meeting materials
Attends IACUC and IBC meetings
Assists with preparation of meeting minutes
Assists in coordination of meeting logistics
Program Support and Process Improvements
Works with IACUC / IBC Manager to develop training, policies, and standard operating procedures
Assists the IACUC / IBC Manager with the medical surveillance program
Updates program websites as needed
Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Formal Education
Bachelor’s degree required, Life Science background preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
1+ years’ experience in research compliance, research administration, or as a researcher/research assistant
Attention to detail required. Ability to work independently and prioritize workload. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex requirements into simple and actionable recommendations. Possess critical thinking and strategic problem-solving skills. Maintain discretion and confidentiality in all professional matters. Friendly and supportive demeanor, and ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
Fluency in Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to master electronic systems and processes required
