The
Plumbing Designer I
supports the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) team by producing construction documents and assisting with plumbing system designs. This is an
entry-level position
intended to develop technical skills, design knowledge, and multidisciplinary coordination experience. The role works under
general supervision , with increasing independence expected over time. Supervisory Responsibilities:
None. Key Responsibilities Plumbing Design & Technical Produce accurate construction documents efficiently. Design basic plumbing systems (domestic water, sanitary waste, vent, storm) with minimal guidance. Read and coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical drawings. Apply plumbing codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements. Perform system sizing, equipment selection, and efficiency calculations. Incorporate knowledge from previous projects into new assignments. Project Support & Documentation Assist in preparing plumbing specifications. Review RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings with minimal supervision. Perform site surveys and document existing conditions. Observe construction sites and report findings. Maintain accurate project documentation throughout all phases. Coordination & Communication Communicate clearly within the team and with other stakeholders. Draft professional emails and technical documentation. Ask questions when unfamiliar with systems or conditions. Escalate client needs or project issues to project managers or engineers. Contribute positively to teamwork and collaboration. Organization & Professional Development Manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Take accountability for assigned tasks. Learn firm standards, workflows, and best practices. Engage in ongoing professional and technical skill development. Required Skills and Abilities Basic understanding of plumbing systems and building construction. Ability to read multi-discipline construction documents. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with focus on accuracy and quality. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Willingness to learn new systems and technologies. Working knowledge of
Revit
and
AutoCAD
preferred. Familiarity with
Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, Outlook). xywuqvp Exposure to plumbing calculation tools or engineering software is a plus.
