The Retail Associate will also be responsible for ensuring the lab technicians have accurate measurements and prescription information for grinding, coating, and fitting lenses to the frames. Once the glasses are complete, the Retail Associate is responsible for dispensing the glasses to the patient.\nResponsibilities:\nCustomer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to all patients.\nSales and Promotions: Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions as well as policies regarding payment, returns, and exchanges.\nTransaction Processing: Compute and process payment transactions/refunds using the in-house Point of Sale system.\nInsurance Claims: Process insurance claims efficiently.\nProduct Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products.\nPatient Files: Create and maintain patient files, following company and HIPAA policies regarding confidentiality.\nPatient Assessment: Assess and interpret patient's needs/wants based upon prescription requirements, facial features, lifestyle, and occupation, and suggest the most appropriate products (i.e., frames, lens type, coatings).\nMeasurements: Take necessary measurements (i.e., measuring the patient's pupillary distance).\nWork Orders: Prepare work orders for the lab ensuring all pertinent information is listed (i.e., patient information, prescription, lens size/type, measurements, special tinting or coating, etc.).\nLens Selection: Pull correct lenses according to work order specifications.\nProduct Inspection: Inspect the final product for accuracy; adjust completed glasses to fit the patient using pliers, hands, and heat if necessary to bend frames accordingly.\nAdjustments and Repairs: Adjust/repair damaged frames, replace nose pads, and missing screws.\nMerchandise Management: Price, stock, and straighten merchandise.\nRequirements:\nHigh School Diploma or GED.\nExperience working in retail, customer service, or sales.\nExperience working in the optical industry is preferred but not required. As a Retail Associate, you'll guide patients in selecting eyeglass frames, lenses, and coatings tailored to their needs. You'll ensure accurate measurements and prescription information for our lab technicians, oversee the production process, and provide personalized care when dispensing glasses to patients.

Responsibilities

Provide Exceptional Customer Service: Use your optical expertise and product knowledge to precisely meet customer needs, ensuring personalized and informed interaction
Stay informed about sales, promotions, and company policies

Educate patients on eyeglass care
Process insurance claims
Maintain up-to-date product knowledge

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED

Description

Working under the direction of the Optical Manager and supervision of the Opticians, the Optical Sales Associate is primarily responsible for greeting patients and assisting patients in the selection of glasses frames. Other duties include communicating with patients regarding glasses order status, dispensing glasses to patients and ensuring they are adjusted properly to fit the patient's face, collecting and entering payments, monitoring voicemails, and maintaining stock, displays and inventory.

Responsibilities:

Assist patients with optical needs and orders

Measure patients' pupillary distance, and other optical measurements, using supplied measuring devices
Assist patient with selecting frames; measure patients for size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription
Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit patient needs
Instruct patients on how to care for and handle their eyeglasses and sunglasses

Maintain accurate optical records and inventory

Maintain records of patient prescriptions, work orders, and payments
Perform administrative duties such as tracking inventory and sales, and performing simple bookkeeping
Maintain and track optical inventory and products
Arrange, maintain, and stock optical displays

Provide excellent customer service

Greet each patient that enters the Optical Shop in a welcoming, professional, and cheerful manner
Act as a first point of contact for patients with questions or concerns
Effectively communicate patient needs and desires to Opticians to ensure a seamless patient experience
Foster positive relationships with patients
Assess patient needs, meet quality standards for services, and evaluate and ensure patient satisfaction
Place a high value on excellence in personal and departmental performance

Meet agency participatory expectation

Adhere to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
Adhere to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality, following HIPAA guidelines
Adhere to established safety policies, procedures and precautions
Attend all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings

Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
1-2 years' experience in a retail establishment
Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products, preferred
Demonstrated computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to work collaboratively with Opticians and the Office Manager of Optometry
Ability to respond constructively to pressure situations and time limits
Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences.
