Digital Print Operator

This position performs intermediate-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of high-volume digital presses, copiers, and bindery equipment. Work will be performed under regular supervision. Essential Job Functions: Maintains and operates Digital Presses (Xerox) to produce high-quality print jobs according to specifications. Including press setup, calibration, and color management for optimal output. Utilizes a personal computer (PC) to process and impose jobs in the Fiery Command Workstation. Review job tickets and artwork files to confirm accuracy before production. Makes equipment and computer interface adjustments required to run various sizes and weights of paper stock. Monitor print runs to ensure consistency of print quality, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments as needed. Makes minor machine repairs, orders supplies, places equipment service calls, and interacts with service technicians. Operates a variety of print shop bindery equipment, including but not limited to: binding, punching, cutting, collating, stitching, drilling, padding, and folding machines. Assist with maintaining inventory of paper and pressroom supplies. Prepares finished printed materials for shipping and delivery to customers. Assist with production on Wide Format equipment. Performs other related duties as required/assigned. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or its equivalent. At least two years of experience in the use of printing equipment. Possession of or ability to acquire appropriate license(s), certificate(s), and/or endorsement(s) for the position as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and the School Board. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience operating digital printing equipment, such as HP Indigo, Xerox iGen, Ricoh, or similar models. Knowledge of bindery equipment. Knowledge of the colors, print quality standards, papers, and other supplies used in digital printing, especially the weights, types, and uses of papers. Ability to read and interpret job tickets and production specifications. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Basic computer proficiency for RIP software and workflow systems. Close attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to plan and schedule work. Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements: The work environment is primarily inside; the worker is subject to inside environmental conditions, noise, hazards, and atmospheric conditions. This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work requires stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word, and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is needed for color perception, visual inspection involving minor defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
