
Senior Manager, Performance Marketing Planning

The Senior Manager, Performance Marketing Planning will own investment and demand planning for all Performance Marketing budgets across CB2. This leader is responsible for ensuring spend levels and mix are optimized across channels and months to drive incremental revenue at a maximized ROI to deliver against business goals and for orchestrating a rigorous learning agenda and testing roadmap.
This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Chicago, IL office with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
A day in the life as the Senior Manager, Planning... Own Investment Strategy and Demand Planning for all Performance Marketing budgets across CB2, ensuring spend and mix are optimized to drive incremental revenue
Assume the role of "Category Manager" for marketing expenditure, conducting weekly performance reviews to strategically re-allocate spend based on real-time demand signals and platform efficiency
Systematically synchronize media investment with promotional calendars and sales objectives, partnering closely with Finance to ensure expenditure adheres to strict business needs
Institute a formal, weekly forecasting procedure in collaboration with functional areas to accurately project sales volume attributable to marketing activities
Proactively manage the media mix using a balanced approach of Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) guardrails and platform-specific KPIs to maximize total business impact
Orchestrate a rigorous learning agenda and testing roadmap (Geo-testing, matched-market) to validate core sales assumptions and refresh the budgetary framework
Serve as the critical feedback mechanism between data models and execution, calibrating MMM outputs against weekly performance to establish the organizational "source of truth."
Translate complex performance shifts into clear, actionable commercial narratives for executive leadership, articulating the strategic rationale for media mix changes
Drive total business outcomes by collaborating with internal teams including Brand, eCommerce, CRM, and Analytics to ensure an integrated approach to growth
What you’ll bring to the table… Strategic Investment Expertise with a proven track record of managing enterprise-level Performance Marketing budgets and driving maximized ROI
Advanced Forecasting Skills with the ability to build sophisticated demand models that align media spend with promotional cycles and inventory levels
Deep Proficiency in Measurement Frameworks, specifically Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM), Multi‑Touch Attribution (MTA), and Incrementality testing
Data‑Driven Narrative Building, with the ability to synthesize complex data sets into concise, executive‑level insights and strategic recommendations
A passion for rigorous testing and a willingness to challenge the status quo through data‑backed validation and continuous optimization
Collaborative Mindset with the ability to bridge the gap between technical data science teams, finance partners, and creative marketing leads
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage high‑stakes financial allocations across multiple brands and channels
We’d love to hear from you if you have… 8+ years of experience in Media Planning, Performance Marketing, or Marketing Finance, with 3+ years in a Retail/eCommerce environment
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Marketing, or a related analytical field
Proven experience managing large‑scale budgets (Omni‑channel retail experience is highly preferred)
Strong technical grasp of the Ad‑Tech/Mar‑Tech landscape and how platform data feeds into broader econometric models
Expert‑level proficiency in Excel and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, or Looker)
Experience leading cross‑functional work streams and influencing senior leadership through data‑backed storytelling
