Indirect Tax Analyst
The Indirect Tax Analyst is responsible for collecting, reconciling, and analyzing data related to sales tax, using tax, property tax, and other taxes to support compliance and reporting processes. This role assists with tax audits, exemption certificate reviews, and tax research, while providing critical support to internal teams and external partners. Reporting directly to the Tax Director, the Indirect Tax Analyst ensures the organization's tax processes align with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Essential Job Functions Collect, reconcile, and analyze sales tax, use tax, property tax, and other tax data, ensuring accuracy in reporting and compliance submissions. Prepare and review tax journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting. Review, validate, and maintain customer exemption certificates and tax credit documentation to support proper tax treatment. Assist in gathering and preparing documentation for tax audits, working closely with internal teams and external auditors. Partner with accounts payable and billing teams to ensure proper application of tax payments and accurate sales and use tax accruals. Administer and maintain tax automation software (such as Avalara), ensuring proper system configuration and accurate tax calculation. Conduct tax research to stay current with evolving federal, state, and local tax laws, and assess their impact on company operations. Work Environment and Physical Demands In office environment Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. Planned Business Travel This job requires no planned business travel. Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent is required. Associate or bachelor's degree, preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license highly preferred Combining experience in tax practices of 2 or more years with education is desirable.
