The Archaeological Research Institute (ARI) is on a mission to bring history to life—excavating ancient sites, preserving cultural heritage, and engaging the community through hands‑on discovery.
We’relooking for a Director of Resource Development who is passionate about community, history, and sustainability. Your mission: generaterevenuetohelp secure ARI’s long‑term futurethroughdonor engagement efforts, securinggrants, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and event funding. Thisrole is aboutrelationship‑building, strategic thinking, and inspiring generosity from the ground up.
You’llwork closely with ARI’s Executive Director, a committed Board, and a passionate team ready to grow.The ideal candidate will embrace ARI’s values of exploration, preservation, research, and education while fostering a positive and mission‑driven community. WhatYou’llDo:
- Lead ARI’s Development Strategy–Accountable for designing and executing plans to secure major gifts, sponsorships, donations, and grantsto fuel ARI’s mission.
- Cultivate Donors & Sponsors-Build strong, genuine relationships with individuals, corporatesponsorsand small‑dollar monthly donors.Comfortably ask for large gifts and train others to do the same.
- Engage the Community-Tap into networks across Cincinnati, NKY, andIndianato connect with donors who care about heritage and education. Seek out passionate people who want to make a difference.
- Host Memorable Events-Partner with the team to plan and grow signature events like the Gala, Adventure Trek, and Pumpkin STEM. Elevate the experience to inspire new supporters.
- Coach & Train Others to Fundraise-Work together to elevate ARI’s fundraising efforts and long‑term sustainability.
- Leverage Tools & Data-Use CRM toolsand data effectivelyto track relationships and inform strategy.You’llbe thepointperson for integrating data with real‑world impact.

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of nonprofit development or equivalent experience (major gifts, donor relations, sponsorships, or sales).
- Experience securing and stewarding donations at various levels (including $10K+ gifts).
- Comfort with CRM tools and donor data systems.
- Strong communicationand storytelling skills.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with a small team and a mighty Board.
- Bonus: Experience coaching others to fundraise orbuildingdonor programs from scratch.
- Pay: Starting at $60,000 base + potential performance bonus
- Time Off: 4 weeks PTO + holidays, full week off at Thanksgiving and Christmas
- Retirement: 3% IRA match
