VP Associate Creative Director (VP ACD)
The VP Associate Creative Director oversees the art and copy teams and ensures quality of content and style to meet the client’s marketing strategies and objectives. With their account partner, they share responsibility for brand strategy, team cohesion, client management, and creative quality. The VP ACD realizes the importance of developing great work as well as great people. They are ambassadors of the agency internally and externally.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Strategic Thinking: Bring and maintain knowledge and understanding of client products, marketing objectives, and promotional activities to evaluate work in the current marketing environment. Understand marketing plans, objectives, and strategies, and how success will be measured. Contribute innovative ideas and tactics appropriate to client marketing strategy. Participate in strategic and tactical meetings to develop effective campaigns reflecting the clients objectives. Generate new and innovative creative strategies and ideas to meet creative objectives.
Oversee the team from inception to final product ensuring quality of content and style to meet client marketing strategies and objectives.
Creation and Execution: Develop smart, single‑minded ideas that are on strategy. Work collaboratively with creative and account partners. Direct members of staff to ensure proper production of campaign elements.
Execution: Command the workflow and conceptual direction for the account.
Cross‑functional Collaboration: Collaborate and communicate with team members productively to ensure goals are met and to attain/maintain the creative vision outlined for the agency.
Staffing: Participate in interviewing and hiring processes to find the right fit and talent.
Team Management & Development: Hire and retain highly capable people while fostering diversity and career development.
Business Management: Responsible for establishing and maintaining the reputation of the company as a creative leader.
Client Management: Develop strong client relationships through participation in market research, presenting creative concept development, and strategic direction.
Resource Management: Ensure creative employees are billable and fully utilized to increase productivity and efficiency.
Relationship Management: Coordinate creative materials across other disciplines.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Thinking
Possesses an in‑depth understanding of the assigned account, treatment category, and relevant physician specialties.
Work with account and creative senior management to develop overall marketing strategies.
Knowledge of product, market & position ensures sound strategic planning, timely & accurate implementation, good service, financial control and a solid client relationship.
Partners with clients to understand brand, messaging, & creative vision.
Consistently surpasses client expectations.
Possesses the ability to take abstract concepts and empower project teams to create cutting‑edge concepts or designs that are user‑friendly, representative of the client’s goals, and within brand guidelines.
Participates in development of Brand personality, positioning, and creative briefs.
Execution
Manages and carries out photo shoots, video and film production, with assistance from reports.
Organizes thoughts effectively, communicates them well.
Places emphasis on quality control and adherence to deadlines.
Exhibits decisive problem solving ability.
Relationship Management
Ensures the account team member thoroughly understands creative concepts so that they are committed to selling them to the client.
Coordinates and works with account management and copywriter in identifying and obtaining information needed to carry out assignments.
Mentors all reports and arranges periodic reviews to ensure personal goals are being met.
Business Management
Ensures that all materials required for production are available and meet correct specifications.
Supervises and mentors art directors, senior art directors, and art supervisors and/or copywriters, senior copywriters, and copy supervisors on multiple brands.
Helps set priorities and manages workloads so that assignments are completed within timeframes.
Cooperates with production, ensuring quality work that is completed as designed, on time, without error and on budget.
Maintains current knowledge of production personnel, freelance art directors and/or copywriters, photographers, illustrators, directors, and talent; recommends those best suited to achieving desired results.
Develops and participates in compelling and captivating presentations.
Makes sound, timely decisions about final changes to work in progress.
Demonstrates full understanding of Vantage/billing process and timely reporting of hours.
EDUCATION Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or Related Field.
