Position Summary The
Senior Database Administrator
provides
Infrastructure DBA
support for complex
Oracle databases , ensuring stability, performance, and availability across multiple
Tier 2 applications . This role supports
Oracle 18c+ environments , contributes to
HA/DR strategies , and follows structured
standards, policies, and procedures . Responsibilities include installation, patching, performance monitoring, space management, and troubleshooting across development, test, and production environments. Position operates in a
24x7 environment , though
on-call is not required .
Responsibilities
Evaluate impacts of system changes and new technologies and recommend long-term solutions to recurring issues.
Enforce and contribute to database standards, policies, and procedures.
Monitor and adjust database space allocation in development and test environments.
Estimate disk space requirements for new and existing installations.
Modify DBMS parameters based on capacity and performance requirements.
Configure, run, and monitor database integrity checks.
Install database management software, patches, and service packs in test and development environments.
Implement strategies to reclaim unused space and correct fragmentation.
Execute SQL scripts to create and modify database objects (tables, views, indexes, constraints, etc.).
Monitor database jobs, scheduled tasks, alert logs, trace files, and system notifications across all environments.
Troubleshoot issues related to database functionality, connectivity, and system downtime.
Apply best practices for database space allocation and performance optimization.
Required Qualifications
15+ years of experience in Oracle database administration (Oracle 18c or newer).
5+ years creating, maintaining, and updating systems documentation.
Experience supporting High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
Experience with database replication, backup environments, and clustered database systems.
Experience monitoring production Oracle environments and troubleshooting outages.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within state government environments
