Recruitment began on September 23, 2025 and the job listing Expires on April 15, 2026 The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program at Coastal Carolina University is pleased to offer a Graduate Assistantship focused on Community Engagement, beginning in Fall 2026.
This position is open exclusively to students accepted into the MALS program.
(You may apply for admission to the MALS program and to this Graduate Assistantship at the same time.) Preference will be given to applicants who submit their materials by the priority deadline of January 15, 2026 . What you’ll do: This Graduate Assistantship is designed to help you build real-world skills while supporting meaningful outreach initiatives across the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. You’ll work closely with the Joyner Institute for Gullah and African Diaspora Studies, helping to coordinate social media and plan major academic and community-facing events. You’ll also support the South Carolina History Day program, assisting with on-campus events for middle and high school students from across the state. What you’ll gain: Hands-on experience in community engagement, event planning, and public communication Training and mentorship—no prior experience required Opportunities to explore the intersection of cultural heritage, local history, and public humanities Other important info: Compensation: Paid twice monthly (pay rate is roughly equivalent to full-time tuition) Want to learn more?
