KIVI, The E.W. Scripps Company ABC affiliate in Boise, Idaho, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant News Director to join our team. In this pivotal role, you'll lead the daily gathering, production, and distribution of news content across multiple platforms, working closely with the News Director to oversee all news broadcasts and online content in accordance with our Content Strategy. With a focus on driving audience growth and operational efficiencies, you'll play a critical role in shaping the station's news strategy and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compelling journalism to multiple neighborhoods across the Boise and Twin Falls markets.
What you’ll do
Assist news director with supervisory responsibility for all news broadcasts and online content.
Involved in hiring and performance management of direct reports.
Assist news director in the on-going evaluation of personnel.
Create tactics and strategies to increase demos performance in key target areas for multiple platforms.
Implement and have working knowledge of federal, state and local laws impacting operations.
Ability to manage cross platform content creation and distribution.
Write copy and edit scripts for air and web.
Knowledge of and proficiency in posting content to station websites.
Schedule anchors and multi-media journalists.
Lead coverage planning of major events, i.e. elections, special events.
Evaluate workflow efficiencies.
Assist news director in managing the budgetary aspects of newsroom operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need
BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred
Prior managerial experience preferred
