POSITION: CTA National Technical Honor Society Sponsor (Job # 3378)
LOCATION: Career and Technology Academy
JOB SUMMARY: Honor societies promote recognition of academic excellence and performance by students. These organizations are an opportunity for students to be recognized for achievements and contributions to school and community. Students selected for these groups meet national standards for admission and must continue to participate and uphold the standards of the organization to remain a member.
REPORTS TO: School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Excellent and written communication skills
Demonstrated management, leadership and human relations skills
Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion
Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works co-operatively with the building principal to establish procedures so that the school’s chapter functions within national guidelines.
Is responsible for ensuring that selection of membership, induction into the society, and maintenance of membership follows the procedures outlined by the National Technical Honor Society.
Distributes information about the school’s chapter in a timely manner
Is responsible for ensuring that service activities and other events meet national as well as local school system guidelines.
Maintains records as required and to provide information as requested by the building principal.
Maintains an accurate record of all money collected and deposits money in the prescribed manner to the principal’s designees
Oversees meetings and elections of officers as outlined by the society’s guidelines
Performs other duties as assigned by the principal such as participating in awards programs and graduation.
OTHER DUTIES: Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires significant periods of standing and walking, and is performed in a typical school environment
UNUSUAL DEMANDS: None
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current year Extra Pay for Extra Duty Longevity Pay Schedule.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
