Job Description Primary Purpose:
The CTE ARD Representative is responsible for managing the admission, review, and dismissal processes for students with special needs within Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, remotely. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, and parents, to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required
Valid Texas Teaching Career & Technical Education (CTE) Certification required
Experience in special education and/or CTE programs required
Understanding of IDEA and other relevant special education regulations
Working knowledge of local, state, and national CTE curriculum standards
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, local laws, guidelines, and procedures
Knowledge about instructional materials, technology, and state evaluation methods
Skilled in communicating effectively with others
Skilled in using computer tools, including but not limited to email, virtual meetings, internet, word/google documents and spreadsheets
Skilled in working in collaborative, team-based environments
Skilled in working with and presenting to diverse populations of students, parents, and community members
Ability to exercise good judgment in decision-making, especially in difficult circumstances
Skilled in human relationships, conflict resolution strategies, and team building methods and techniques
Minimum of 2 years of successful career and technical education teaching experience
Special Education ARD experience required
Dependable home internet required
Major Responsibilities and Duties Maintain Working Knowledge of NISD Career Clusters & Programs of Study
Stay informed about best practices in special education and CTE
Engage in professional learning to maintain knowledge of CTE content fields
Engage in professional learning to maintain knowledge of industry certification opportunities for students
Advocate for NISD students and CTE Career Clusters & Pathways
ARD Meeting Preparation & Responsibilities
Serve as a liaison between the CTE department and special education services during ARD meetings
Collaborate with educators to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that align with CTE program requirements
Work cooperatively with the ARD committee to assess student needs regarding accommodations &/or modifications regarding CTE curricula
Review all student paperwork prior to ARD meetings to ensure accurate & appropriate committee collaboration
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position
Dependable performance requires reliable and dependable attendance
Provide information and collaborative support to NISD CTE teachers on accommodating specific students and their special needs
Data Management
Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administration
Maintain the confidentiality of all student records and information in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations
Ensure that sensitive information is shared only with authorized individuals
Supervisory Duties N/A
Equipment Used Personal computer, copier, Fax machine, calculator, printer
Working Conditions Able to maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Repetitive hand motions. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Position requires frequent bending, stooping, twisting, pulling, overhead reaching, sitting, and keyboarding. Position requires the ability to lift 25 pounds to waist high.
