Ophthalmic Assistant - Job Summary This position may require travel between University Park, Sarasota, Pelican Plaza, and Siesta locations. The Ophthalmic Technician works closely with physicians and clinical staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered eye care. The technician performs patient workups and a range of ophthalmic diagnostic tests, including but not limited to: patient history documentation, scribing, visual acuity testing, lensometry, tonometry, motility testing, visual field testing, pupil assessment, manifest refractions, and administration of anesthetic and dilation drops. Additional ophthalmic testing may be performed as needed. The role also supports clinic operations through clerical tasks, stocking, and maintaining exam areas. Deliver patient care in accordance with company policies, clinical standards, and established protocols. Perform ophthalmic testing and assist providers during patient examinations and procedures. Maintain exam and procedure rooms to ensure a clean, safe, and properly stocked clinical environment. Manage clinical supplies and inventory to support efficient clinic operations. Complete clerical and administrative tasks, including returning patient calls, processing prescriptions, documenting patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and scanning relevant records into the system. Interact with patients, families, and visitors in a courteous, professional, and compassionate manner. Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and employee information and demonstrate respect for individual, cultural, and social differences. Contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment aligned with company standards and values. Maintain required clinical competencies and participate in ongoing professional development. Support the training and development of other staff members when appropriate. Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
