Job Role Summary This position is responsible for performing clerical and clinic duties as a member of the health care team that provides services to individuals, families and various community agencies throughout Marion County. This position requires good customer service skills in order to ensure that visitors/clients are treated in a courteous and polite manner. This position requires the ability to be able to collect fees, document the collection and enter the data into the network database. Cross training for other assignments may occur as job related activities dictate. There may be some traveling to other sites such as schools, homes or other MCPHD sites in Marion County.

Computer data entry: Process client records at point of service. Data entry is up to date and accurate.

Perform Receptionist/Customer Service duties: Answer phones and relay messages in a courteous and timely manner. Greet and register clients in a courteous and timely manner. Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with clients/community contacts/office personnel.

Financial/Fee Collection: Accurately complete information/intake on client’s insurance, i.e., Medicaid, Medicare, Hoosier Healthwise, etc. Accurately completes the Fee Collection Daily Summary sheets, accounts for monies, and enters the data into computer. Maintain financial records and run daily summary sheet from computer.

Cross Train: May be cross- trained to assist with client home/school visitation for purposes of delivering TB medications or school screenings. Meetings: Participate in periodic staff meetings, team meetings, and committee meetings.

Employee will protect and maintain confidentiality of each client’s and each employee’s medical and personal information that may be obtained in the course of job related provision of care or employment.

Employee may need to remove confidential information from work place setting to transport to another designated setting or to make a home visit. If the information is removed, it must be protected and secured.

Employee must complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) training 100 and 700.

In the event of a public health emergency, employee must be available to work on week-ends or a schedule that would differ from normal assigned workday.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

1 to 3 years of previous work experience.

Computer skills including typing skills of a minimum of 30 words per minute.

Licenses/Certifications Required Job related

Requires access to own vehicle and current automobile insurance

Unconfined sitting, working at a computer, attending meetings; standing and walking; must be able to climb stairs, steady use of hands and fingers – data entry; limited lifting and carrying

May be exposed to substandard and unsanitary living conditions

May be exposed to allergens of all types (i.e., pets, dust, smoke, etc.)

In adverse weather conditions, may be requested to make home visits for Directly Observed Therapy for TB medications.

Required to wear N-95 mask in situations where client is considered infectious.
