Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Comprehensive Oral Health houses several disciplines including, Periodontology, Dental Hygiene, Comprehensive Dentistry, Operative Dentistry/BioMaterials, Prosthodontics, and Endodontics. The Periodontology discipline focuses on the prevention and treatment of gum disease, as well as the management of gum and tissue inflammation resulting from existing dental conditions
Position Summary Admin Support Associate/Patient Relations Representative serves as front desk support for the Graduate Periodontology Clinic in the Department of Periodontology, Endodontics and Dental Hygiene. This position serves as the first point of contact for the clinics and requires a professional manner that effectively and efficiently welcomes and creates a positive customer service experience for all patients, families, faculty, staff, healthcare team members, referral sources, and others.This position will be responsible for scheduling appointments through Epic software to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and the most effective utilization of examining treatment rooms. This position will also process payments on patient accounts and assists in determining financial standing of the patient accounts; insurance verification; preparation of documents and reports; scheduling from Epic work queue; answering/making phone calls, troubleshoot inquiries, establish appointments and care arrangements, and perform additional duties as requested.This position will perform a variety of administrative, secretarial and office support duties, requiring adept knowledge of school policies, procedures, and systems.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences
Prior experience in medical/dental healthcare environment
Experience using EPIC
