Job Title: Recreation Leader

Assist in planning, organizing, developing and supervising activities for participants of varying ages. Supervise specified Recreation Leader staff members. Work is performed under general supervision. This position falls under the direction of Parks and Recreation. Working Special Events on holidays, nights, and weekends will be required. Essential Job Duties

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Plans, coordinates and supervises various recreational activities, games, programs, field trips, events and sporting activities for age groups between pre-school aged to senior citizens Supervise a specified group of participants (adults and children) indoors and outdoors, some with special needs. Provide and maintain a safe environment for the participants and complete injury and/or incident reports, as required. Conduct Crisis Response Drills, Fire Drills, and all emergency preparedness procedures Foster positive employee relations and employee morale on a City-wide basis. In addition to these basic responsibilities, each park division may have specific duties as listed: Assist in athletics, special events, senior citizen programming, and community programs Assist with a variety of tournaments, special events, travel leagues, etc. Operate RecTrac system Work facility events as assigned CDL license is a plus Schedule and add rental reservations, assist with venue rentals, move furniture and assist patrons of the rentals. Set up activity stations, move furniture and other small equipment up to 25 pounds Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED certification. At least 2 years of verifiable supervisory experience in childcare, recreation programming or related field OR

AA Degree diploma or above One (1) year of verifiable supervisory experience in a related or unrelated field. LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License, with a good driving record. Must possess or obtain CPR, AED, and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire Out of School positions only:

Must complete a 45-hour Child Care Certification Program approved by the State of Florida within one year of hire Child Development Accreditation preferred. A comparable combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position, may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
